Helping Neighbourhood Coffee Improve Their Website Performance
For a smoother online experience

Neighbourhood Coffee is a Liverpool-based speciality coffee roaster and producer of Dock’s favourite cup of joe.
The team sources green coffee from around the world before roasting blends and single-origin coffees at their local roastery. In addition to supplying cafés, hospitality venues, and home brewers across the UK, the team also provides equipment and barista training.
Each year, Neighbourhood Coffee roasts more than 75,000kg of coffee, equivalent to over four million double espressos. That’s a lot of coffee, and a lot of customers relying on their website to order it.
But the company’s site wasn’t performing as well as their beans.
At the end of 2025, frustrated with their site’s performance and the support they were receiving from their previous digital agency, the team approached Dock for help.
The First Phase
To understand what was going wrong with Neighbourhood Coffee’s website, we proposed a migration project, including technical and UX audits.
By moving the site onto Dock’s servers, we would gain a clearer picture of its performance. The findings from these audits would form the foundation for an ongoing programme of improvements.
Once we reviewed the site in detail, several issues became clear.
The first phase of work was about stabilising the platform and fixing the most urgent technical issues.
We corrected the tracking setup so the Neighbourhood Coffee team could accurately monitor customer interactions. We repaired the Zenstore connection, reinstated Mailchimp tracking, added further protection from bots, and made the cookie setup compliant.
We also improved page speed, which we’d identified as one of the site’s biggest performance issues.
This work stabilised and secured the platform, ready for further development.
What Comes Next
The Neighbourhood Coffee team have been a pleasure to work with, and we’re looking forward to working together on further website development.
The next phase will focus on improving the user experience, both visually and technically, so it’s easier for customers to browse and buy coffee online. We also plan to make the site simpler for the Neighbourhood Coffee team to manage.
Now the foundations are in place, we can concentrate on helping the website support Neighbourhood Coffee’s growth and making it easier for customers, including the Dock team, to order their next batch of beans.
