The challenge

Established in 2011, Landscape World is a family-run, specialist landscaping supplier in Widnes.

With over 30 years of experience in the industry, they sell a range of ethically sourced paving and aggregates online and have one of the largest paving display centres in the North West. In 2020, Landscape World's existing Magento 1 website had run its course. They had a choice: upgrade to Magento 2 or rethink their online strategy. That's when they came to us. After working with their team, we decided a key website objective was to focus solely on selling their own brand of quality landscaping products.

This decision came at a critical time. When the COVID-19 hit, Landscape World locked down its display centre at one of the busiest times of the year. Knowing we could produce a new Shopify website quicker than migrating to Magento, we recommended Shopify as the optimum solution for growing their eCommerce and to keep sales coming in throughout the pandemic.

The solution

Once we understood Landscape World's objectives and had analysed their existing data, we started mapping out and overhauling the onsite navigation.  We followed this with a complete migration of core products and content from Magento 1.

This process involved creating complex shipping rules that display a price based on precise square metres, overall delivery weight, and a total price summary the customer can review before adding products to their cart. Our in-house Shopify developers coded specific elements to create a seamless user experience. This included updating the product hierarchy to allow factors like paving depth and product shade to show as configurable products - and promoting logical cross-sell opportunities at the checkout.

Finally, we enabled a click-and-collect delivery option, allowing Landscape World to process orders and deliveries safely. We also increased the accepted payment methods to include all major debit and credit cards, Paypal Express, and ApplePay.

The result

We delivered a highly responsive, mobile-optimised site within four weeks. Whilst working remotely. During a pandemic.

Within a month of launching their new website, Landscape World saw online sales increase by almost 1,400%. Meanwhile, their eCommerce conversion rate increased by 831% year-on-year.

Now that's crazy paving.

We have a great working relationship with Dock, which we have done for many years. They understand our business and what we want to achieve by listening to us and advising in areas where they have expertise. They are always contactable and we have continued to be impressed with their knowledge and innovative designs. A great team to work with.
